Celts

The Celts; 1 lost to Who's Next?; 3
20/08/2004

The first game of the season just happened to be against the team which has won the competition for the last few years. This team has been together for 5 years and the newly formed Celts knew that it was going to be a hard game.

The game started quite poorly for The Celts  with Who's Next? taking control of the game quickly. Who's Next? managed to score quite quickly and immediately put The Celts on the back foot. The score could have had been 3-0 in a matter of minutes if it wasnt for the goalkeeping heroics of James Marco.

As the closing minutes to the first half approached, a pin point throw from James was headed with deadly accuracy as Street rose above the defence to put the ball away into the back of the net. 1-1, and The Celts had found new hope and pushed for the winning goal. This was not to be as Who's Next took control of the game again, and even with the amazing goalkeeping skills of Marco, Who's Next? displayed their superior class which allowed them to score two more goals before the end of the game.

The game was ultimately a big disappointment for The Celts and their passionate fans. The Celts will obviously be looking to improve on this poor performance in next weeks fixture. Johno declared himself upset with the result, but was silently optimistic that the team can change their fortunes for the better. "The game overall was not a great performance. Some positives can be taken though, as the team did not give up and showed a fighting spirit which is important in a sport such as soccer. We will analyse the game thoroughly and hopefully we can improve on our weaknesses in the coming weeks."

The Celts will be out for revenge and will be sure to train extremely hard as they try to put the poor start to the season behind them, and look to the future glory which awaits them.
