The Celts; 3 defeated Guiness United; 0
10/09/2004

The Celts finally broke their winless start to the season with a superb win over second placed Guiness United. This clash with the likes of the rejected Celt, Sean Delaney and Egyptian international Mido, has become a derby over recent years between players which get on quite well off the pitch. The match was always going to be a fiery encounter which seemingly brought the best out of The Celts star studded team.

The game started quite well at a high intensity and The Celts piled on the pressure from the very begginning. It wasn't long before Street controlled a throw from keeper Marco, before turning his marker to slot nicely past the keeper into the back of the net. The Celts kept up this continual pressure throughout the rest of the first half, this pressure soon paid off. Street bought down a pass from keeper Marco before laying it off to Cicchetti who unleashed a thunderbolt from just inside the halfway line into the top left hand corner of the opposing goal.

The Celts continued to pile on pressure from all around the park and anything that was thrown at The Celts defense from the opposition was stopped promptly with a superb defensive display. The game was nearly over when Street put Delaney in the clear who slotted home between the keepers legs to register a goal for him in the last 3 games now.

Johno was over the moon with the result "This result is very late coming, but I will not complain, its fantastic and maybe this is the turning point in our season. The finally showed how well they should be playing every week. This is a massive confidence boost for us as we were able to come out and beat a team which is on a high, while we have been on a low. The fans deserve this win, and I am certain now that more wins are definate in the near future."
